ಭಾರತದ ಹಲವು ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಮೆರಿಕ ವರದಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದೆ.

ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯಡಿ ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷದ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ವರದಿಯನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನೆ ಅಮೆರಿಕ ವಿದೇಶಾಂಗ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯವು ಈ ವರದಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿತು. ವರದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಕೆಲವು ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಅಲ್ಪಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದೆ.

ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಈ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕೋಲಾಹಲಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವಾದ ಹಿನ್ನಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಭಾರತವು ಅದನ್ನು ಸಾರಾಸಗಟಾಗಿ ತಳ್ಳಿಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಭಾರತದ ವಿದೇಶಾಂಗ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯದ ವಕ್ತಾರ ಅರಿಂದಮ್ ಬಾಗ್ಸಿ, ‘ಸರಿಯಾದ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮತ್ತು ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯ ಕೊರತೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅಮೆರಿಕ ಈ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ನಡೆಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 

“Religious freedom conditions in India are taking a drastic turn downward, with national and various state governments tolerating widespread harassment and violence against religious minorities. The BJP-led government enacted the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which provides a fast track to Indian citizenship only for non-Muslim migrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan already residing in India. This potentially exposes millions of Muslims to detention, deportation and statelessness when the government completes its planned nationwide National Register of Citizens”. – USCIRF
